Evan Newton is an award-winning journalist from Monticello, GA. Evan currently serves as the Managing Editor for The Covington News, an award-winning biweekly, local newspaper in Covington, GA. Evan’s journey in journalism began after graduating from Georgia College & State University in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications and a minor in Rhetoric. After interning with his hometown paper, The Monticello News, for six months, he became the News Editor of The Covington News in November 2023. He was promoted to Managing Editor in September 2024, where he became the youngest top editor in the history of the paper at age 23. Evan is an expert on the ins and outs of local journalism and has written about local government, sports, crime, business and human interest stories over the span of his 2.5-year professional career.
